Command reference ยท Cursor CLI
/opus
Jumps straight to the Opus model family without opening the picker.
/opus is a model shortcut: it takes you straight to the Opus model family, without first opening the model picker via /model and clicking through it. According to the changelog, every model family has its own shortcut, and it remembers the variant you last selected within that family โ if you call /opus again, you land on exactly the Opus variant you used last.
The command can be turned off: under "Model slash commands" in /config you can disable model shortcuts like /opus if they get in your way. Note: /opus doesn't appear in the current main reference table of slash commands (cursor.com/docs/cli/reference/slash-commands) โ so far the command is only documented in the CLI changelog from July 6, 2026, which doesn't specify which concrete models belong to the Opus family.
โ WHEN TO USE IT?
Quickly switch to an Opus model
/opus
Return to the last used Opus variant
/opus โ without a detour through the model picker, because the shortcut remembers the last selected Opus variant
โ WHEN NOT TO?
Choose a model from another family
According to the changelog, /opus only jumps to the Opus family, you can't reach other models through it.
Better: /model for the full selection
